Dawn Wattie Bio

DSC_0522pscDawn Wattie has been the President and Sole Practitioner for Dawn Wattie Law Corporation since its inception in 1997. Dawn also brings her corporate law experience to a number of boards of private companies in the advanced technology and multimedia sectors. Dawn is currently Corporate Secretary for a Junior Mining Company and a Director of “D” dubble “T” Enterprises Ltd., a project management company.

In addition to practising business and technology rights law, Dawn has acted as corporate counsel for many advanced technology and online companies and for the University of Victoria’s Innovation and Development Corporation, an organization responsible for managing technology transfer issues and related matters at the University.  Dawn designed, developed and delivered a course on intellectual capital and intellectual property for the Knowledge Management Program (Graduate Program) at Royal Roads University.

Dawn has also held various senior level positions in the private sector:

  • Innovation Task Force – Surrey Board of Trade, Former Chairman. Developing an Innovation Strategy for Surrey and Surrounding area.
  • Chief Operating Officer and Counsel of  an innovation social media portal featuring free-to-play 3D multiplayer browser game, webisodes, ARG’s and proprietary user authoring tools.
  • Chief Operating Officer and Counsel, a Vancouver based enriched media company which released a live action series distributed through a multi-format channels and broadcasted online and television
  • DL Consulting Ltd., an organization that provided strategic business and intellectual property services to clients in the technology sector

Dawn is passionate about not for profit organizations that represent the interests of aboriginal and other social services groups. Dawn has acted as a Director with local businesses and provincial organizations dedicated to post secondary education and international development. Dawn is personally passionate about the environment and issues related to sustainability.
